Hoover-Nass Proposal

October 27th, 2005

Dear Greg,

The members of  Tsawwassen Residents Against Higher Voltage Overhead Lines wish to thank you for your hard work regarding the Gateway Project and the Hoover/Nass Proposal that was discussed at your recent meeting.

The members of TRAHVOL wish to express the following position concerning your proposal.

Tsawwassen Residents Against Higher Voltage Overhead Lines support the efforts of all groups striving to improve the quality of life in South Delta through modifications to the various infrastructure projects being proposed by industry and government. We strongly believe that the provincial government and crown corporations need to improve the consultation process with the public in the affected areas to ensure that plans include a thorough examination of the community impacts and not just focus on the initial cost for a project. The long term costs to the communities must be assessed as part of the process with an indepth socio-economic impact study.  TRAHVOL is very supportive of all efforts to demand improvements in the proponents due dilligence to thoroughly examine all alternatives.

Although we cannot speak directly to the benefits of the Hoover-Nass project vs other suggested alternatives, we believe that the proposal supports the concept of a common utility infrastructure corridor that could merge the proposed transmission lines and the new highway infrastructure together and minimize the disruption to the Delta community.

If we can provide additional information, please contact Cecil Dunn @ (604) 943-9276. Thank you for your efforts on behalf of the community and all residents of Delta.

Sincerely,

Tsawwassen Residents Against Higher Voltage Overhead Lines
